Hampden House Wedding
In the heart of the beautiful Chiltern Hills, this quintessentially English country house, Hampden House, provides the perfect setting for your wedding day photography.
Licensed for civil weddings, ceremonies can be held in one of three locations within the House, including the wonderfully ornate Great Hall. By arrangement those wishing to marry in church may wish to consider the 13th Century Parish Church of Great Hampden, St Mary Magdalene, situated within the grounds and a short walk from the House.
This magnificent house with 1,000 years of history is one of the most sought after wedding venues in the county of Buckinghamshire and lends itself to beautiful photography. Set in 300 acres of privately-owned grounds, complete with exquisitely tended lawns and a tree-lined driveway, Hampden House is simply a beautiful location for your wedding photos.
Andy & Katie’s Wedding was simply wonderful. The attention to detail that the couple gave to every facet was impecable, everything had a personal meaning. The music, the readings, the cake! Now lets talk about that cake.. wow! It was incredible, hand made suitcases layered with flags & logos from places they had been together all put together by the Master Chef from Waddesdon Manor, Craig Clarke.
History: As a result of the family’s financial problems, Hampden House suffered; cracked brickwork was not repaired but rendered in cement, necessary repairs were not carried out, and general deterioration set in, until in 1938 the family decided to let the house. The first tenants were a private girls’ school. The interiors suffered greatly under this regime. The second tenants, Hammer film company, specialising in the making of horror films, no doubt saw the gothic aspects of the house as an attraction as they appeared in many of their films, and notably the 1980 “Hammer House of Horror” UK TV series.
